My scholarly interests focus on the history of interactions between canon law and secular law from the 12th to the 17th century. So far, I have particularly researched the influence of medieval canon law on contract law, the status of Roman law as a supplementary source of law in the Church, and the genre of legal literature known as differentiae iuris civilis et canonici. Currently, I am studying the history of commentaries on the most important compilation of decretals called the Liber Extra from around 1450 to 1650. I serve as the secretary of the editorial board of Journal of Legal History and am a member of the editorial board of Comparative Legal History.
